Bahay Kubo" is a popular Tagalog folk song that every Filipino knows. It's a simple tune about
a nipa hut in the province and all the vegetables that grow around it.
Although the song is essentially a list of all the things grown around the hut, I wanted to infuse an additional story that can only be understood through the illustrations I've created by introducing a farmer and a few of his closest animal friends helping him--well...I'll let you find out for yourself!
The final product is an 8.5x11" softcover book with 28 pages total. It is packed with illustrations on every page, both Tagalog and English lyrics, sheet music for the famous song,
as well as a cultural inspiration spread on the back.
"Bahay Kubo" was self-published in summer of 2021 and was successfully crowdfunded through
Kickstarter in less than 12 hours. It was a true labor of love!
